This project was to create three logos for a fictional company, in the assignment's case I created a technology company called GenuisTech. For these logos, I wanted to create something simple yet distinguishable with tech elements like wires or cables. I also wanted to use more blues as it's associated with technology for invoking feelings of innovation and security. Once I decided on the final versions of the logos, I reversed image searched to see if they were already made by someone else. Here are the logos.
For logo 1, I began with getting the initial skeleton of the logo down, the T frame and wires. The tricky part was placing each wire as I didn’t want to fill the entire logo with them. So, I placed each wire in spots where I felt it was appealing and well-spaced out. For the colors, I used blue as that color is usually associated with tech. Light blue can signify powering on in machines/technology. This blue fits well with the brand as it can represent security and trust, which can help build strong customer relations. I thought the design was clean and wasn’t too complex, so I moved onto the next.
Logo 2 was a bit more complex one as it has more smaller shapes from the USB ports. I began to trace from pictures of the USBs to get the right shapes and dimensions, then I color matched them using the eye drop tool. Once that was finished, I drew a cable representing a G and put that next to the USB ports where I positioned them to look like a T. Together it creates a GT, for GeniusTech.
For the final logo, I created the gear icon first then drew wires to replace the other half of the gear. The obstacle I faced was creating a symmetrical gear shape. To resolve this, I used a gear reference to create a symmetrical shape. It resulted in a successful logo that visually looks equal on both sides. Otherwise, I think my concept was shown.
After creating all the logos, I had to clean them up and make them into one shape. Essentially to give them a “clean” logo builds by using Adobe Illustrator’s pathfinder functions. Then, for the creative aspect of the assignment, I put some 3D effects on my logos. I tried to make some pop out and look realistic.
